Glock 17 trigger pull weight
Glock 17 Trigger Pull Across Generations
Consistent and Reliable Trigger Pull
Across all generations, the Glock 17 maintains a consistent trigger pull weight of approximately 5.5 pounds (24.5 N) for Gen 1 through Gen 4, and slightly higher at 5.8 pounds (26 N) for Gen 5. This consistency ensures that users can expect a familiar and reliable trigger feel, regardless of the generation.
Smooth Trigger Travel
The trigger travel remains consistent at about 0.49 inches (12.5 mm) across all generations. This smooth and predictable pull helps shooters maintain control and accuracy, especially during rapid fire.
Short Reset Distance
A standout feature of the Glock 17 trigger is its short reset distance of approximately 0.12 inches (3 mm). This short reset allows for quicker follow-up shots, which is particularly beneficial in competitive shooting scenarios.
Over Time “Trigger Pull weight”
Users report that the trigger pull on the Glock 17 remains consistent and reliable over time, regardless of the generation. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning and lubrication, helps keep the trigger mechanism in optimal condition.
Many users appreciate the balance of safety and performance that the Glock trigger system provides, making it a trusted choice for both law enforcement and civilian use.
will gen 5 magazine work in glock 17 gen 3?
“No”, Glock Gen 5 magazines are not designed to fit in Glock 17 Gen 3 pistols. The differences between generations, such as magazine well dimensions and magazine release mechanisms, make Gen 5 magazines incompatible with Gen 3 pistols.
Generation 5 magazines: Introduced in 2017, these magazines do not interchange with previous Glock magazines. Therefore, you need a 5th-generation Glock pistol for Gen 5 magazines.
The magazines feature an orange follower, a raised feed lip, and a slightly extended base plate with a curved front.
will a glock 19 slide fit a 17 gen 3
Yes, a Glock 19 slide will fit on a Glock 17 Gen 3 frame. The Glock 17 and Glock 19 share many compatible parts, including the slide. This means you can swap the slides between these models without any major issues.
However, keep in mind that while the slide will fit, the overall length and balance of the firearm will be different, which might affect handling and performance slightly.

Since I am not a pistol guy, I have no idea about the different generations. Didn’t early Glocks go bang when you pulled the trigger? I thought the purpose was bang ,bang,
Maybe there’s something else they call it improvement, I didn’t not notice and don’t care.

I’m not a big fan of Glock although I own half dozen of them.
I think it’s one of the most ugly handgun ever designed (Gaston probably doesn’t have any Italian blood in him), and it was so cheaply made (what he wanted). The reason I own a few is solely because that damn thing works.
Gen 5 was made with some added and omitted features.
This is what I noticed from observing my friend’s Gen 5 G17 vs Gen 4:
A new finish for barrel and slide (hard to tell), new rifling (maybe good), omission of the finger grooves on the grip (great), ambidextrous slide stop (good), flared magazine well (if you think its necessary). The locking block pin was also omitted (for whatever the reason was).
It doesn’t shoot any better than the 2nd and 3rd Gen. I have, there’re no design flaw induced stoppage in either Gen. during my tests under borderline civilized environment. Maybe the difference will show in torture test which I have no intention to do with my own guns.
Maybe there’s something else they call it improvement, I didn’t not notice and don’t care.

Now I got the Glock 17, I’m testing both my Glock 17 and my Glock 19 at the range not a big difference I noticed. And not a big difference with the gens either, but gen 5 is something else I can say
