The GLOCK 49 Gen6 extends the Gen6 family by combining a full-size slide with a compact grip platform. This hybrid configuration delivers the longer sight radius and slide mass of a larger pistol with the slimmer grip profile favored by some carry shooters. While official Glock press releases focus on the 17, 19, and 45 models, multiple industry sources list the G49 as part of the initial Gen6 offerings.

Key Gen6 Innovations Across All Models

  • RTF6 Grip Texture – A new dual-pattern rough texture that enhances purchase without overly aggressive feel.
  • Ergonomic Frame Geometry – Redesigned palm swell, thumb rest “gas pedals,” and enlarged beavertail for a more natural grip.
  • Undercut Trigger Guard – Allows a higher grip and reduced trigger reach for better control.
  • Flat-Faced Trigger – Standard on all Gen6 models for consistent finger placement.
  • New Optic-Ready Slide System – A factory-integrated mounting approach that replaces older MOS/adapter systems.

Official retail rollout for the Gen6 pistols began on January 20, 2026, with MSRP around $745 in the United States.
