Hunting with an MP10 308 rifle is like using a powerful and versatile firearm that can handle a variety of game and terrain. The MP10 has some features that make it suitable for hunting Animals
mp10 for sale
- GUN SAFETY – An ambidextrous safety, which allows the shooter to operate the rifle with either hand.
- GUN BARREL – A 16-inch barrel with a flash suppressor, which reduces muzzle flash and helps with accuracy.
- SCOPE RIFLE – A flat top receiver that accepts any practical optic, such as a scope or a red dot sight.
- 308 WINCHASTER CARTRIDGE – A 20-round magazine capacity, which provides ample ammunition for multiple shots or follow-up shots.
Hunting with an MP10 308 rifle also has some challenges, such as:
- The weight and size of the rifle, which can be cumbersome to carry and maneuver in the field. The MP10 weighs about 8.1 pounds unloaded, and has an overall length of 34.75 inches.
- The recoil and noise of the .308 Winchester cartridge, which can be unpleasant and loud for the shooter and nearby animals. The .308 Winchester is a high-powered round that generates significant recoil and muzzle blast.
- The legality and ethics of using a semi-automatic rifle for hunting, which may vary depending on the state and the game. Some states have restrictions on the caliber, magazine capacity, or type of firearm that can be used for hunting certain animals. Some hunters may also prefer a more traditional or sporting rifle for hunting, rather than a military-style rifle.
Therefore, hunting with an MP10 308 rifle is like having a capable and adaptable firearm that can perform well in different situations, but also requires some considerations and precautions. The MP10 is a great choice for hunters who value power, accuracy, and reliability, and who are comfortable with using a semi-automatic rifle. However, the MP10 may not be the best option for hunters who prefer a lighter, quieter, or more classic rifle, or who face legal or ethical issues with using a semi-automatic rifle.

Is like having a powerful and versatile firearm that can stop an intruder with one shot, but also has some drawbacks that you should consider. Some of the pros and cons of using an MP10 308 rifle for home defense are:
Pros:

- The MP10 308 rifle fires the .308 Winchester cartridge, which is a popular hunting round that has excellent stopping power and penetration. The .308 Winchester can take down large game animals, so it can also stop a human threat with one shot.
- The MP10 308 rifle has a flat top receiver that accepts any practical optic, such as a scope or a red dot sight, which can help you aim and shoot accurately in low-light situations.
- The MP10 308 rifle has a 20-round magazine capacity, which provides ample ammunition for multiple shots or follow-up shots, in case you face more than one intruder or miss your first shot.

Cons:
- The MP10 308 rifle is a heavy and bulky rifle, which can be cumbersome to carry and maneuver in tight spaces. The MP10 308 rifle weighs about 8.1 pounds unloaded, and has an overall length of 34.75 inches.

- The MP10 308 rifle may not be legal or ethical to use for home defense in some states or areas, which may have restrictions on the caliber, magazine capacity, or type of firearm that can be used for self-defense.
- The MP10 308 rifle may cause excessive damage or collateral damage, which can endanger your family, neighbors, or property. The .308 Winchester is a powerful round that can penetrate walls, doors, windows, or other objects, and potentially hit innocent bystanders or cause unwanted destruction.
Therefore, using an MP10 308 rifle for home defense is like having a capable and adaptable firearm that can perform well in different situations, but also requires some considerations and precautions. The MP10 308 rifle is a great choice for home defense if you value power, accuracy, and reliability, and if you are comfortable with using a semi-automatic rifle. However, the MP10 308 rifle may not be the best option for home defense if you prefer a lighter, quieter, or more discreet rifle, or if you face legal or ethical issues with using a semi-automatic rifle.

I’ve never heard of the MP being picky. Mine gets a steady diet of my reloads now, but among the cheaper stuff it’s shot Tula & Brown Bear steel without issues. Can’t get any cheaper than that.

Ive thought about 300 AAC, but 308 seems to be the same but with more energy.
I couldn’t disagree more with you. The 300 AAC was derived and intended to be shot in short barrels, not only supersonic but in subsonic as well. The only resemblance to the 308 is the diameter of the bullets.
I have 2 LR-308s and love the cartridge, but I also recently converted a 5.56 pistol to 300 AAC just for the very fact that it was designed to be used in close quarters with short barrels and the fact it can be shot subsonic is a huge plus.
You also mention pig hunting, the 308 will handle pigs without question, but so will the 300 AAC. The one big advantage of the 300 AAC is that it will fit in an AR-15 mag.
If I was pushed to have only 1 AR that I wanted to take hunting, shoot up to 800-1000 yards, and be able to punch paper, it would be the LR-308. But the 300 AAC is lighter and could be better suited for many people using it for hunting. All of our mileage varies.

I would do a 10mm build and get the glock in 10mm to go with

The M&P 10 is a good rifle for the price and has nice features. It has an 18″ pencil barrel with 5R rifling so that lightens it up. It also has an ambi bolt release and for free states an ambi mag release. The one drawback is that with it being light weight the recoil can be harsh.

My shopping list has an AR in 308 too.
After looking around, I plan on getting a Adams Arms small frame AR308 enhanced rifle for ~1200. Take a look at this guy, it’s weight and guaranteed accuracy.

Speaking from experience, you’ll get a .308 and never shoot it because you can’t find a good enough reason to plink with it over your .223s or x39s
This. .223 will be cheaper, lighter, and with softer recoil, and you won’t notice a difference inside of 300 yards or so.
I’ve sold my non-nostalgia 308 semis for these reasons.
